Kiss The DJ new single from Boy George

Cultural icon and international disc jockey Boy George, kicks off 2016 with a huge release for Fetch Records - "Kiss The DJ", in praise of the selectors... Twirl! Records' Shaun J. Wright & Alinka lead the remix package with an amazing rework soaked in Chicago vibes. Punx Soundcheck hold down the low end with a garage-fried deep remix, whilst Fetch Records stalwart Oggie B brings the firing funk house, London style. On the techier end of the scale, Russian duo Housetronix bring not one but two mixes; rising star Spatial Awareness rounds off the package with a spacey but tough dub, blurring at the edges with acid goodness.

New Culture Club Single 'More Than Silence'

Culture Club is on the comeback train with a new song titled “More Than Silence.” The song, the first Culture Club single in fifteen years, serves as an introduction to the forthcoming Culture Club album, Tribes, out early 2015 on the band’s own label Different Man Music via Kobalt Label Services.

It must feel like a daunting task for any band with such an impressive back catalog of songs to come back with something that is worthy of standing alongside their iconic body of work. With “More Than Silence,” Culture Club has nothing to worry about. The song is a dreamy dose of pop goodness with a catchy chorus, strong production and a fantastic vocal performance from Boy George. Though the track does give more than a friendly nod to their early work, it’s hardly a retread. “More Than Silence” is very much firmly grounded in the present.
A great pop song can make you forget your problems, worries, and grudges. It creates a special moment that is just about you and the song. That’s what happened when I heard “More Than Silence” for the first time tonight. All the negativity surrounding my small run in with Boy George vanished. Boy George’s smoky vocal delivery is not only impossible to resist on “More Than Silence,” I think it actually ups the bar a few notches for every pop artist in music today. If they’re smart, other  musicians will sit up and take notice because Culture Club has offered up a shining example of pop music done right.
“More Than Silence,” out now on iTunes, proves that there is still a place in pop music for a cohesive, well-crafted, unapologetic pop song that creates a rich texture of sounds. Well done, Culture Club. I can’t wait to hear more.
October 12, 2014 New Culture Club tracks 'Like I Used To' and 'Oil & Water' both taken from the new forthcoming Culture Club album simply titled 'Tribes'! The new album will feature new penned songs from the FAB 4! George and the band are eagerly awaiting to premier the new album and new single 'More Than Silence' next week in the UK when Culture Club make a preview of the new album at Club HEAVEN in the UK on October 21, 2014! (The same month 32 years ago when they scored their No.1 hit with 'Do You Really Want To Hurt me')

Like I Used To (Culture Club)

I remember those scatter cushion lips
I scaled the walls of your ivory tower
What made me think
What made me not think
Said in your cold heart
Then I heard the world sing
I don't do emotion like I used to
I used to, I used to
I don't do emotion like I used to

My God (New Single)

Following the huge success of his recent sold out tour and Top 40 UK album ‘This Is What I Do’ he is still currently in the UK Top 40 Indie album for 9 weeks and hot on the heels of his last single ‘King Of Everything’!

‘My God’ will be released as the 2nd single from 'This Is What I Do' which will be released on 26th January 2014 as a 2 track bundle, including a cover of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games’. Says Boy George on the release of the new single: ’My God’ is a celebration of faith and the tale of a man who lost faith and found it!  It could be me but it might be you!  ’Video Games’ is a very unusual pop song. It reminds me so much of ‘The Crying Game’ and ‘Blue Velvet’.  I also adore Lana Del Rey.”

Boy George hasn't been as enjoyable in ages.
The Independent (UK)

The album, then, is a bit of a mixed bag but does enough to deliver on its mission statement. It may not be particularly adventurous or vital, yet there is undeniable charm in its sense of a once-great pop star beginning to correct his course

A mature, solid comeback, certainly – but a snap in the tail wouldn't’t have gone amiss, either

The great strength of This Is What I Do is that it feels “real,” like a man standing in front of you, telling you what he’s been through, how he survived, and how he feels now. It’s very reflective, even philosophical…"

The video for 'King Of Everything was filmed in various locations in East and South East London and tells the story of a gorgeous boxer and his disappointed wife; whilst the story is not about George, the O'Dowd family does have strong links with the sport.

The boxing ring scenes were filmed at the Benefice of Charlton Saint Thomas' Church, Charlton with other locations at London Bridge and Broadway Market.

George Says: "The video is pretty much a direct narrative of the song. We shot the bulk of it in local gym where I grew up in South London. We used all real people and went for character to give the clip a filmier quality. Our mum was a lady we encountered while location scouting and our wife and dog Paris are the director Mike Nicholls' neighbors. The two star appearances are singer Roy INC and Daniel Cox from the pop group The Feathers."

The the outspoken pop legend just released a new music video an accompanying video collage of amazing photos from Georges own personal collection and clips of him featuring some of his most iconic looks from his Culture Club days!

The brief retrospective begins with George's appearance on The Tonight Show with Joan Rivers when he was 22, and it ends with wise words from the late Freddie Mercury: “I don’t think Boy George is going to come and go. I think Boy George is going to be here a long while.”

The music video is now out on YouTube and is getting some really excellent reviews from everyone. My Gawd I think he's done it! This could possibly be the best album from Boy George. Check out the amazing song lyrics.
King Of Everything (Song Lyrics)

Put down the booze
Let the demons win the fight
Dropped my gloves to the ground
You know I'm sorry
For the times I made you cry
I made an art of letting you down

(Bridge)
I used to say
It's only me I'm hurting
But I saw you on the stairs
The kid was crying
And the dogs were howling
And a siren filled the air
(Chorus)

What's the word on the street
Have I lost my crown
Or will I be king again
What's the word on the street
Have I lost my crown
Or will I be king of everything

Tempted myself time & time again
Like self destruction was so cool
I mocked your tears and I scarred your heart
I blamed the past and I blamed you

(Bridge)
I used to say
It's only me I'm hurting
But I saw you on the stairs
The kid was crying
And the dogs were howling
And a siren filled the air
(Chours)
What's the word on the street
Have I lost my crown
Or will I be king again
What's the word on the street
Have I lost my crown
Or will I be king of everything

Standing outside of me
Looking down

This Is What I Do (The New Solo Album)

Boy George is back with a brand new studio album of original new material, his first in 18 years since 1995's 'Cheapness & Beauty'!

'This Is What I Do' is to be released on his own 'Very Me' record label on October 28th 2013 with a worldwide agreement with Kobalt Label Services.

The record deal with KLS, which will handle the distribution, sales, marketing and other release services, follows a high-profile contract Boy George just signed with Big Life Management.

Artists featured on the new album 'This Is What I Do' include DJ Yoda, Youth, Kitty Durham of the rockabilly trio Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Ally McErlaine (guitarist with Scottish hitmakers Texas) and MC Spee (who is featured on Culture Club's single 'I Just Wanna Be Loved'. Richie Stevens, one of Boy George’s co-writers on the album also produced.

The 12-track album will be supported by a series of UK live gigs from 3 November at Manchester’s RNCM (Royal Northern College of Music) to 11 November at Brighton Concorde 2. The concerts will include a stint at London’s Koko, where Boy George will be part of Virgin Records’ 40th- anniversary extravaganza.

Boy George says in a statement: “This is What I Do is the first record I have ever made and owned myself. It's very exciting to be a bit more in control of my work and to be doing this independently. It feels very liberating. Working with Kobalt adds to the excitement. I feel that I'm going to get a more personal involvement from them, and I have been very impressed with their work with 'The Pet Shop Boys' recently.” Says George:
Boy George, Whatsonstage.com Awards, London

"I wanted to make a baggy album, not overproduced and I think I have achieved it. I was listening to things like 'Beast Of Burden' by The Stones' and I had my head most definitely in the 1970s with this album. Richie's approach was very organic and he's the best drummer in the country so the feel of the record was so locked in from the start. I worked with a bunch of musicians who I have toured with and written with for the past fifteen years and dragged in a handful of others to guest on certain tracks like bassist Jennifer Maidman, Ally McErlaine from Texas and Kitty Durham from Kitty Daisy & Lewis who came and played harmonica. I was also writing from a happy place. This time, no ex lovers to get revenge on. For me the best song is 'Bigger Than War' sums up the tone for all my ex-boyfriends".

Paul Hitchman, KLS’ managing director, adds: “With 'This Is What I Do', Boy George has created an album of exceptional songs, spanning the personal and universal. We feel privileged and excited to be working with George and the Big Life management team.”
I wanted to place the original song titles on here for you to see because many of the titles have been edited down.

During the summer of 2002 at a historic sold out gig at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall Culture Club, who since 1982 had achieved success on a global scale with the Hits coming thick and fast not only in the UK but also Europe, USA and Japan played to the audience a global jukebox of 20 years of great music. Boy George said of this historic 20th Anniversary concert "I shouted at the audience "I'm f******* singing a ballad, shut up" and Roy said afterwards "In twenty years you ain't changed" and howled with laughter. I have often described Culture Club as a living soap opera and I've asked friends to tell me never to tour with them again at my lowest moments. However, we have a magic together and this gig at the Royal Albert Hall captures it perfectly."

Coming Home
Boy George is releasing his new dance track "Coming Home" written by him and co-written with Mikey Craig from Culture Club. This song was written during the writing session for the new forthcoming Boy George solo album "This is What I Do." George wanted to record a dance song since he DJ's every weekend and he likes what's going on at the moment with dance music.
"Coming Home" has been remixed by George's friend and manager "Marc Vedo", & "Psychemagik" along with "Maze & Masters" and "Kinky Rolland".

'Coming Home" is getting some good play at the moment and "Is expected to be 'this summers club anthem" says Prok & Fitch! Could this be just what George is looking for? Could this be his next big dance hit like 'Generations Of Love' was?
We think so! George says "Coming Home has that early 1990's house flavoring dance vibe like my early "Jesus Loves You" singles had".

I'm really H.A.P.P.Y with it and I cant wait for people to hear it.

You Ruined My Xmas
I stated back that I wanted to hear Georges new Christmas song that he penned last year and now it's finally happening, not sung by George but by The Supreme Fabulettes. This song is just plain fun. A perfect Christmas confection that you can't help but sing along to. The Supreme Fabulettes are well known in the UK now selling of 80,000 copies, they are the best drag trio out there. "You Ruined My Xmas " is written by Boy George, the song has the same catchy pop chorus that made his 80's tunes so hard to get out of your head. If you embrace having a boisterous chorus run rampant through your head, this song is for you. If you get annoyed by a a tune randomly bubbling up to the surface unchecked, this may not be for you, Mr. Grinch.

Revisiting White Christmas
The holidays are coming, the holidays are coming..." Boy George gets his cover in  with his version of Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas', spelled B-Rude style as Xmas. It's a reggae-lite version produced by Kinky Roland.  I'll be listening to this song while decorating my Christmas tree this holiday season. Mind you, I was expecting to see his self-penned new song 'You Ruined My Christmas' (a phrase his mum screamed at a drunken aunt once at a holiday party) which was to be included as part of the EP package. Where is it? I wanna hear it!
But if you missed your chance now you can download this amazing EP which has the tracks "More Girls Just Like You" and "Lousy Substitute" which is a Bowie meets Lady Gaga epic.
Also available Happy Christmas, War Is Over (War Child) with Boy George Feat Anthony & The Johnson's from the album "Help A Day in The Life"
Happy Christmas, War Is Over (War Child)
If you still need more Boy George this holiday season don't forget his amazing vocal on the best selling Christmas single ever in history for Band Aids "Do They Know It's Christmas (Feed the World)". This single was re-released back in 2004 for its 20th
anniversary, but it could not be compared to the original version. They did however
include the 1984 version as the B-side on the CD single.

Boy George On The Cover Of OUT Magazine!
It seems that 2012 has been such a great year for Boy George. This month him and Sharron Needles from 'Ru-Paul's Drag Race' as well as Jane Lynch from 'GLEE' and Andrew Rennals from 'The New Normal TV Show' will be featured as part of a 4 cover special collectors edition for the 18th Annual OUT 100. The magazine issue goes on sale to the general public on November 20, 2012 and will be for the November/December issue.

Music icon Boy George has entertained millions for decades. Now his path of self-discovery has led to a more satisfied place in his life. “As I’ve traveled around the world to places that wouldn't let me in back in the day, like Argentina or Russia, one of the things I’ve been struck by is the number of people who’ve said, ‘You’re the reason I came out,’ ” he says. “In the past I might have taken that a bit lightly, and now I feel that it’s a real responsibility. What I’ve realized is that the world hasn't’ changed -- there are still lots of places where people are having a really, really hard time because of their sexuality, and I think one of the most important things I can do is be a self-respecting gay public figure. ”
There were some amazing photos done on September 25, 2012 that were taken of George. Catch this exciting issue of OUT Magazine with our George on the cover!

Boy George look inspire Designer Jean Paul Gaultier

As the dry ice cleared and multicolored arc lights illuminated Gaultier’s runway, they revealed a tableau of dancers (gymnastically choreographed by Blanca Li and frozen in a pose taken from the Jean-Paul cover of Grace Jones’s 1985 Island Life album) on rock concert stadium scaffolding, signaling a collection that was “an homage to all the pop stars of the eighties who have influenced fashion and my fashion with their look,” as the designer announced in his program notes.

Gaultier had clearly had a lot of fun casting the show and thanks to hair and makeup stars Guido Palau and Stephane Marais’s chameleon makeovers, Channel Knuts with a russet crew cut made a perfect Annie Lennox, a deadlocked Karlie Kloss was an uncanny Boy George (Culture Club era), and Joan Small channeled a coolly elegant Sade.
But beneath the theatrics there were some of the best clothes that Gaultier has shown on his ready-to-wear runway in a while. Grace Jones inspired the precision-cut black tuxedo pantsuits that opened the show, with jackets that maintained their form even with a surgeon’s horizontal cut across the chest providing a subtle flash of the body suits beneath.
Boy George influenced the drifting Japanese print kimonos and flowing palazzo pants, whilst Jane Birkin’s insouciant, mannish style was captured in a traditional trench coat with its back made of translucent organza. Ziggy Stardust–era David Bowie (the sound track, of course, was his 1980 “Fashion”) brought out metallicized leather, Flash Gordon shoulders, and glitter platforms, and Abba offered up some brightly colored satin baseball jackets over matching romper suits. The Material Girl (to, naturally, the song “Vogue”) was, of course, a vehicle to showcase Gaultier’s corset-boned tailoring, and fishnet sweatshirts shrugged over structured brassieres. And Gaultier’s own playful foray into pop—1989’s “Aow Tou Dou Zat”—inspired a series of crochet pieces in the matelot stripes that are his personal signature. A star finale turn from The Queen of Chinatown herself—the inimitable and ageless Amanda Lear—brought this fun romp to and end.
