Some examples of reasons law essays get marked down:
Weak IRAC framework - jumping straight to the conclusion without properly laying out the issue, rule, and application first.
Poor case analysis - cases get mentioned but never actually explained in relation to the facts.
OSCOLA problems - inconsistent or incorrect referencing, and examiners tend to spot this fast.
No real argument - just listing law without taking a clear position or actually answering the question asked.
Word count issues - either repeating the same point to pad it out, or cutting important parts just to fit the limit.
Fixing most of this comes down to planning the structure before you start writing, and making sure every case you mention is actually explained and referenced properly from the first draft.
