Collagen type I is the most abundant form of collagen in human tissues and is composed of two identical ?-1 type I chains and an ?-2 type I chain organized in a triple helical structure. Specifically, collagen type I alpha 1 chain (COL1A1), an extracellular matrix protein mapped to 17q21.33, is an important member of the collagen family.

Our recombinant human pro-collagen type I ?1 / COL1A1 is available as full-chain or single chain molecules. Its synthesis and assembly require a multitude of genes and post-translational modifications which gives a more native human structure. It is highly soluble in physiological buffers; thus, no aggressive solvents are required for its processing in medical devices.
