Guys, I have a question: Are there any active CS 1.6 servers left, or has the game died out completely? The other day, I decided to log in to take a trip down memory lane. I opened the search in my old client, but either nothing came up or it showed hundreds of servers listing 31 or 32 players. When you join, there are 30 bots with fake usernames, spam in the console, and a terrible ping of around 200. Where do people look these days for decent public servers with real players instead of fake bots?

How is the problem of inflated online player counts and master servers being addressed now? In the past, standard search results were flooded with hundreds of so-called "boosted" servers that displayed fake numbers in the browser. Is there a reliable list of working master servers for classic 16x16 and 5x5 mix public servers?

There’s no shortage of active online play. Every day, thousands of players run around on hundreds of servers. They play on classic maps like Dust2 and Inferno, as well as CSDM, GunGame, and Zombie modes. The main problem is usually your client's outdated or broken master server, which provides fake redirects and bots instead of active public servers.
To see an up-to-date list of working servers with real players online and a decent ping, download a client with an updated master server from https://csget.me/. This build includes a secure search feature that filters out fake servers and returns only active ones in your region.
Which servers do you prefer—purely classic public servers or ones with mods like GunGame or Zombie?
